Arguably being the most organised of our local neighbours this should help our visa quest. As you can see below, a land trip to Penang can be quiet an ordeal. If you have your own car it is infinitely more comfortable of course. For those that do not have their own car their are bus, minibus, train, and also flight options.
Both Koh Phangan and Koh Samui have organised minibus visa trip services and there are also cheap flights from Surathani on the mainland to Penang or Kota Bahru via Kuala Lumpur. For the well heeled there are also more expensive flights from Koh Samui airport if time is more of an issue than money.
